That is exactly how we felt driving home. WOW! We had an exciting two days full of workshops. The keynote speaker on Thursday morning was one of our favorite authors, Shannon Hale. We laughed, we got teary-eyed, we laughed some more and at times wanted to cheer as we listened to her speak about “Girls in Towers; How to Break Free, Lose the Prince, and Save the World”.
One of the workshops was presented by Nathan Hale, “Tricks of the Trade: Illustrating Rapunzel’s Revenge”. It was fascinating listening to him explain the process of making each sketch, first with a pencil, then ink, then coloring each sketch. WOW! I have a greater appreciation for illustrators.
On Friday we were able to hear Brad Wilcox speak, “Color Your World with Books”.
As he spoke he read some poems from Hailstones and Halibut Bones by Mary O’Neill.
