Wild Rumpus Storytime

Uncategorized

16 Oct
“And now,” cried Max, “let the wild rumpus start!”

During today’s storytime, the bookstore became a “place where the wild things are,” while the children transformed into wild things who “roared their terrible roars…and showed their terrible claws.”

Ms. Jeanine read Where the Wild Things Are while wearing a wolf hood similar to the wolf costume Max wore in the story.
The children were captivated by the words and pictures of the book even though many of them had heard the story before.
After listening to the story, the children made their own “wild thing” masks. With the help of their parents, they also cut out crowns and made puppets.
When everyone was done making their masks, we read the book again. During the part of the story where Max was in the land of the wild things, the children held up their masks and pretended to be the wild things from the story.
We even had two brothers come dressed up as characters from the book. One came dressed like Max while the other was one of the Wild Things.
