Adventure Club News

In honor of our 2nd Birthday at the Purple Cow, the kids in Adventure Club are going to share book reviews with you about some of their favorite books each week during May.

Our book read for this month is A Hero’s Guide To Deadly Dragons by Cressida Cowell. This story is part of the How To Train Your Dragon series. In the book, the Heroic Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III sets out on another seriously funny mis-adventure! To save Toothless the dragon from being banished, Hiccup must brave the Hairy, Scary Librarian and his dreadful army of Meathead Warriors so he can borrow the Vikings most sacred book from the ‘locked up library’. You will have to read the book to find out if Hiccup bravely makes it out alive in time for his next birthday celebration!

If you haven’t read, How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell, it is one of Blake’s favorite books! This is why he likes it:

“This is a book about a boy named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (Hiccup). Everyone in his town (the town of Berk) is a Viking. There is something different about Berk though. They catch/train dragons to hunt fish and stuff. Hiccup and nine other boys need to learn how to catch their first dragon. Once they catch their dragon, they need to train it and present it in the festival or they get exiled from this town.”

Emily really likes this book by Michele Ashman Bell
– Summer In Paris

“This book is a great teen novel for any girl. It’s about a girl (Kenzie Williams) that goes and spends the summer with her aunt and uncle in Paris, Idaho. I really enjoyed this book because it had a good message. When she looked on the bright side, everything turned out right. It also shows what happens you make wrong choices. This is a great book I would recommend to girls, ages 12 to 16.”
