Storytime with “Elmer”

Today for storytime, the children heard about Elmer, a colorful, patchwork elephant who helps the other elephants in the herd laugh and have fun. He gets tired of being different than the others so he rolls in elephant colored berries until he looks like all the other elephants. When something seems wrong because no one is laughing, Elmer decides to shake things up a bit and yells “Boo!” to surprise everyone. When the rain washes the grey off Elmer everyone decides it’s the best joke ever played on the herd. After that, they have an “Elmer Day Parade” where everyone except Elmer colors themselves to celebrate. The children enjoyed coloring a picture of Elmer to take home with them.
