Just Make a Mark

“Just make a mark and see where it takes you!” – The Dot

Today I did my very first Story Time at the Purple Cow Bookstore! I have been getting ready for today for about a month and now it is all over. I read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds.

Afterwards the children did an art project where they created a picture out of different sizes and colors of dots.

The emphasis of today was on displaying children’s art work and the effect it has on them. Displaying children’s art work will boost their self confidence and encourage them to continue creating art just as in the story I read today. In the story, Vashti’s art teacher did the simple act of hanging up her dot in the classroom but this, in fact, was the turning point for Vashti. She then began to make more dots and eventually realized that everyone, including her, can be an artist. The key to this is, “Just make a mark and see where it takes you!”
