We’ve been very lucky to have guest readers at our storytimes over the past weeks! On Friday, March 26 Jami Carter, Director of the Tooele City Library was our special reader. She started off by sprinkling magic listening dust on each of the listeners’ heads.
After everyone had been sprinkled with listening dust, Jami read a great assortment of stories including Armadillo Tattletale by Helen Ketteman, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems, Back to Bed, Ed! by Sebastien Braun, and Augustus and His Smile by Catherine Rayner.
In between stories Jami shared a few rhymes and fingerplays with the children. Here’s one of them:

On Friday, April 2 Robyn Whitmer, a Dairy Princess Attendent was our reader. She decided to read one of her favorite books: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. Then she read The Rabbit Who Liked to Say Moo by Johnathan Allen. Robyn involved the children in this story by having them make each of the animal sounds.
Because Easter was a few days away and Robyn read a story about a rabbit, the children made rabbit baskets for their activity.
Today our guest reader was Darlene Christensen. She teaches 4-H at the USU extension office here in Tooele. She read two of her favorite stories. The first was The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear by Don and Audrey Wood. Then she read Eating the Alphabet: Fruits and Vegetables from A to Z by Lois Ehlert. The children really enjoyed participating as Darlene asked them if they had ever eaten the different fruits and vegetables listed in the book.
Darlene brought coloring pages for her activity. One page had strawberries and the other had peas in a pod. As a special little gift, Darlene gave each family a box of crayons to take home.
